Playing Outside

I'm so glad the weather has been cooperating lately. The kids LOVE going outside to play and I enjoy it too. The only problem is Sophie. She cries every time the door opens and she doesn't get to go out.

I think it is a neat new thing for her. I didn't have her walk around outside while it was cold, and she didn't get to wander around while it was warm because she wasn't walking then. So, it's this whole new world to explore. She wants to go out all the time, but I can't let her go out alone because she'll get into all sorts of bad things. She even gets upset when I let the dog go out but not her. So irrational!

Sophie climbs onto Abby's bike (pseudo big wheel) all the time and scoots around on it. It's really fun. I need a swingset or something for the girls to play on. They'd like that. My parents have a swingset and Abby thinks it's the park.

Abby likes to set up camp chairs and everything else and make it into some make-believe place. She made a pirate ship today and the other day she set it up and showed me her new house. It's funny.

Happy Easter

We had a really fun Easter this year with WAY too much candy. We had two easter egg hunts and one visit from the Easter bunny, leaving us with buckets of candy and no will power to resist it. Sophie was a really good hunter and had a lot of fun picking things up out of the grass. She also had fun picking things up out of the other kids baskets . . .

Abby is getting pretty quick and is starting to catch the spirit of taking as much candy as possible. I'm so proud!

Sophie has taken to climbing up on the kitchen table whenever she finds the opportunity. We left the easter baskets on the table on Sunday, so she had some extra motivation for getting up there. I found her drooling pure chocolate while sitting contentedly on her perch. That baby is SO sneaky! I need to somehow get a picture of her up on the table to post without encouraging further ventures. If you have any ideas, let me know.

I'm also posting a picture of the Jensen egg hunters from this year. I took lots of versions of this picture, but this is the only one where they all had their faces pointing in the same general direction.

A Random Post

I thought I should post again, since it has been a while. My friend Sharon thinks I can't possibly be playing computer games all the time--well guess what. Much of my free - non-kid - time is spent playing World of Warcraft. Super Nerd to the rescue!!! Anyway, I'll post now before the draw of the game becomes too great.

I love giving my kids mohawks after bathtime. Both girls have had plenty of hair on top, but not so much on the sides so it works out really well. Here is Sophie's latest mohawk. I think she looks awesome.

Here's Abby after the bath. She loves to get a towel on her hair just like Mommy. It's kind of tricky to do on someone else, but this time worked out okay. She is really into being beautiful lately. She always wants me to dry her hair after a shower or bath because otherwise her hair doesn't look beautiful. It's funny, but sometimes I wonder how quickly she'll grow out of this phase. I don't want her to be stuck on her appearance forever! She has some weird ideas about what looks good, so I'm not too worried. She doesn't mind if her dress has a big spot on it, only that the dress is pink. She doesn't care that her hair looks really weird, just that she has 7 clips in it. I don't think it will last too long since she doesn't pay that much attention to the details.

So, that's what is going on around here. Oh yeah, I only have 12 days left until our Biggest Loser contest is over. I need to really be good about what I eat for this last little while! I'm down about 30 pounds right now and I'm hoping to lose a few more before the final weigh-in. I probably should have taken a before picture, but I didn't want to see how bad I looked!

My first tag

So I got "tagged" by Sharon. I guess that is blogger lingo, I've just recently figured out what it is. I think I can handle this one. This is what it says to do:

1. Pick up the nearest book (with at least 123 pages).
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next 3 sentences.
5. Tag 5 people.

Okay, the nearest book is called "Revenge of the Wrought-Iron Flamingos" by Donna Andrews. Fun title, eh? Page 123, 5th Sentence: And also far too much interest in leering at my costume, to judge by the increasingly black looks he got from Michael. Next 3 sentences: The ambulance crew came and left with Benson. Even patient Cousin Horace was running out of forensic steam and still Monty continued questioning me. "So, can you think of anyone else who might have a reason to dislike the deceased?" Monty said, finally.

This book didn't reveal anything particularly moving or noteworthy in those few sentences. Oh well! The book was fun and now I'm reading the sequel. (And I've read three others in the series.)

I don't think I have five people that have ever seen my blog, but I'll tag a few people anyway. I'll tag Andrea, Tom, and Melissa.

Arts and Crafts Time

I don't do a lot of crafty things generally, but I do enjoy them. Abby absolutely LOVES things like that - like all little girls I suppose.

I bought some wood things for my young women to paint for an activity and Abby wanted to paint too. She even let me change her clothes into something she could get paint on just in case. (She rarely lets me dictate what she will wear without a gigantic tantrum.) She had a blast painting and kept wanting more and more things to paint. I'll have to grab some extra wood odds and ends from the shed for her to paint one of these days.

As you can see, we are having some smiling issues these days. This was the best smile, and I don't think it even counts as one!

Once again, I attempt to become Super Nerd!

Yeah, so I already know I'm pretty nerdy--but I've been adding to it lately. Let me give you a run down.
1- I am a computer programmer
2- I watch Japanese cartoons (anime) and dramas
3- I read science fiction and fantasy novels
4- I have fallen over multiple times attempting aerobics
5- I don't like to talk to strangers (maybe not nerdy, but definitely weird)
6- I play GameBoy games (or DS) a lot
7- I have expounded multiple times on Han Solo's boast of how fast the Millenium Falcon is

So these are a few of my qualities that make me pretty darn nerdy. My newest one is: I love World of Warcraft. Right now my character is a level 23 Night Elf Hunter. Cool, huh? I have a pet bear named Dwayne and he is really good at killing gigantic tarantulas that drop crunchy spider legs and various other body parts after they die. This game is pretty addicting and I have been staying up WAY too late playing it. Oh well. I'll have to take a break when this month's subscription runs out.

There you have it. Super Nerd. At least I can admit it.

I'm a loser

So, we're doing a contest to lose weight these days. We started on January 2nd and I'm almost down 20 pounds. I think that's pretty good. I want to lose about 50 more at least, so I have a long way to go still. I'm not doing anything fancy, just old fashioned exercise and eating right. I'm hoping to make this a habit and not go back to my old ways. It's nice when I can start getting into my old jeans again.

Work has been a little hectic. I like the extra money that comes with more hours, but I feel bad about ignoring the girls while I work. They are good sports, though. Luckily, Sophie still takes really good naps. She still gets tired after being awake for 2-3 hours. She's kind of a wimp and needs her beauty rest.

Abby does some of the funniest things. Sometimes, when we're in the car, Abby complains that she can't get "comfy". She gets really upset and squirms around trying to find a better position on her booster seat. I always ask if she needs to go potty and she vehemently denies it. She usually will ask for a blanket or a pillow or something. (I never have what she wants.) A few minutes later she'll, inevitably, say she really has to go potty and we'd better get home quickly. She's silly. Abby doesn't want to go potty on someone else's terms.

Sophie is still such a little girl. She's still wearing a lot of 12 month clothes - and she's 14 months old now. So, I often forget that she is actually growing a bit and is getting better at reaching things. She keeps pulling things off the table and making a mess. I left Abby's mostly eaten Cafe Rio food on the table then left the room for a while. Sophie wandered over and pulled it down onto the chair. She then decided to grab the fork and attempt to finish it off while nobody was looking. Po tried to help out, but he isn't really tall enough. It was funny to see her holding the fork trying to get more out.

Anyway, things are good here, but completely disorganized. I'll get things in hand one of these days . . .
