For our Summer Adventure Club activity on Tuesday, we went on a little hike to Bridal Veil Falls. Sharon and her kids came with us and we had lots of fun. The hike was more like a stroll and the real highlight was playing in the water at the base of the waterfall. Sophie and Abby enjoyed themselves immensely. They sure like getting wet! I really enjoyed watching Sophie and Jackson fight over some oreos. Sophie tried to pry them out of Jacksons hands and they both got really mad. (They were Jackson's oreos to begin with, but Sophie doesn't really understand ownership yet.) Anyway, I think I'd like to do the hike again - it was short and easy and pretty much everyone had fun.
Sorry the pictures aren't great. They were taken on my phone, but they're better than nothing!

18 Months
So, Sophie hit 18 months on Friday. Woo Hoo! I love 18 months. She went to nursery on Sunday and did just fine. I actually went to Sunday School and listened and got something out of the lesson. It was amazing. Tom went to Elders' Quorum for the first time in a while too. His lesson was boring, I guess, but at least he got to hear it!
I took Sophie to the doctor yesterday for her last shot for a while (Hooray!). She was 23.8 pounds and 31.5 inches. Both are about the 45th percentile. She's still so much smaller than Abby was at her age, but she's really healthy and doing great. (I think Abby was 90th percentile for height and 70th for weight or something.)
Sorry my post isn't more entertaining - and I don't have any pictures. I'd go take one, but Sophie is taking a nap. I'm sure Sophie will do something naughty really soon for me to complain about.

Farm Country
We went to the Thanksgiving Point Farm Country Exhibit on Tuesday. Abby had a blast and really loved seeing all the animals. Sophie stayed in her stroller pretty well too, so she must have been pretty interested as well. (I have a hard time judging whether she is enjoying herself sometimes.) We drive past a few farms on the way to Grandma's house on Sundays and like to point out the cows and horses. Abby said she wanted to see the animals closer up, so this was perfect. Our ward is doing a Summer Activity Club and this was the first activity. We even got in for half price, so that was really nice.
Abby got to feed some of the animals and couldn't get enough corn to give them. She kept scrounging on the ground for little pieces to give the goats. Next time we'll have to bring our own dried corn instead of paying a quarter for a little handful.
Abby got to ride on a couple of ponies there too. She went twice because I didn't want to go -- haha -- and I didn't think Sophie would really appreciate it much. It was a fun day with the girls - we even celebrated our hunger by stopping by Cafe Rio on the way home. It was more of a treat for me, but Abby really loves their pork barbacoa stuff too.

Kids really do say the darndest things
Abby surprises me fairly often by using words I've never heard her use before. So far we've been lucky and avoided the really bad words popping out. On with the story, we were trying to get everything ready to leave Tom's parents' house on Sunday. We put the kids in their pajamas so we could get them to bed quicker once we got home. I told Abby to put her shoes on so we could go - and this was her response: "No no no no! Those shoes would look HIDEOUS with these jammies." I cracked up. I got a picture of the shoes and the jammies, what do you think? Hideous?
