Abby and Sophie are almost 3 years apart in age - and I have wished they were closer in age so they could be better playmates. Sophie and Alice are just a little over 2 years apart in age. I keep hearing about how people love having their kids close together so they can be buddies and have someone to play with. (Or appreciating having that as a child.) I'm still waiting for Alice and Sophie to get to that point - but they're getting there! Alice is becoming more and more interested in the things Sophie likes to do. And I think Sophie is getting a little more tolerant of her kid sister. They fight plenty when they sit next to each other in the car, but sometimes they play and get along. They were building a clubhouse out of the curtains and blankets behind the couch yesterday. And as I sit here typing, they're watching an old Hello Kitty show on the computer together. Sophie is starting to take on the role of the big (and sometimes helpful) sister and it makes me happy. She helps Alice get snacks sometimes and draws on the sidewalk with chalk with her.
I'm waiting for them to be best friends, but not fighting all the time is an improvement.
